By Chance Farm

Amelia is our Barn Manager and brings to our team a wealth of experience in the equine and small animal industries. Throughout school she worked at riding stables as a working student and then evening barn manager. Knowing that there was nothing in this world that would ever satisfy her other than to work with horses, she pursued an Equine Science Degree in college, first attending William Woods University in Missouri, then Lake Erie College in Ohio.

After college, Amelia travelled, working in the Saddleseat world in Louisiana and Arizona, making herself a more rounded rider and horsewoman. From there she moved back to Maryland taking a working student position at Bacsule Farm under Julie Hagen. After her success as a working student, she was promoted to assistant manager and then quickly took over as manager. Her experience at Bascule opened opportunities at smaller, private farms where she was involved in every aspect of the horses’ daily care and routines.

In addition to working in the horse industry, Amelia explored the small animal world working as a vet tech. Her time working in a veterinary hospital showed her that while she loves all animals, her heart was really at home working with horses. Those experiences as a vet tech gave Amelia a more well rounded ability to manage and care for horses.

Amelia is a great addition to the By Chance Farm team and we look forward to her contributions and watching her grow as a manager and horsewoman.

Torque

Torque is Amelia’s 5 year old Doberman. He has grown up on farms and loves going out for hacks and trail rides. Amelia hopes that once they have settled in at By Chance she can once again attend obedience classes with Torque in the hopes to compete with him. If you see him around, feel free to ask him to perform any of his many tricks, including his favorite “High 10”!
